Course content
This is an exciting course that is both written and practical. Assessment for both the AS and A2 are 50% designing and 50% making.
Students will gain a good understanding of Food Science. It will give food for thought and discuss controversial and topical food issues as well as considering the impact of their decisions on the environment. Students will thoroughly look at how food products are developed from the initial idea through to the final outcome. This includes health and safety, food law, CAD/CAM and packaging. The whole aim is for the student to design and make products but to appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing.
